This is the situation Brussels has brought itself into, where it equates itself with violence and politically motivated crime, said Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, in response to a statement by the European Commission’s spokesperson.
According to him, the support expressed by the spokesperson of an EU institution for Elene Khoshtaria is tantamount to giving a green light to violence.
“Elene Khoshtaria committed a politically motivated crime. Elene Khoshtaria is exactly the kind of person who refuses to participate in the democratic process and has openly declared her goal to prevent citizens from expressing their will through elections and to disrupt democratic elections. Of course, when we see the spokesperson of one of the EU institutions expressing support for such a person, it is nothing other than giving a green light to violence. In fact, what we heard from the spokesperson is the justification of politically motivated violence and crime and giving a green light to politically motivated crime. After this, the responsibility for any politically motivated crime or violence stemming from these groups should be borne by the relevant EU institutions in Brussels, including the EU Embassy, which to this day does not distance itself from violence, including from those violent actors it funds itself. Let me remind you that it recently became known that the EU Embassy funds a person who calls for politically motivated murder and mocks the death of Levan Gachechiladze, one of the prominent politicians in Georgia’s modern history. The EU Embassy funds such a person and does not even consider it worthy to express regret, say something, or utter a single word—whether this fits into European or any galactic values, when a person calls for politically motivated murder and it is funded with EU citizens’ money. Therefore, it is unfortunate, but Brussels has brought itself to this situation, where it equates itself with violence and politically motivated crime,” Papuashvili stated.
