At the opening of the autumn session, Parliament will recognize the powers of replacement deputies for 12 members of the “Gakharia for Georgia” party whose mandates were terminated. It is expected that the issue of recognizing the powers of the party’s members will be presented to Parliament for a decision at the first plenary session of the autumn session.
Given that, unlike other opposition parties, Giorgi Gakharia’s political coalition did not withdraw its electoral list, the Parliament’s agenda includes recognizing the powers of the next 12 members on the party’s electoral list. This issue will first be reviewed by the Procedural Issues Committee, after which a decision will be made at the plenary session.
According to the “Gakharia for Georgia” party’s electoral list, the replacements are as follows: Gela Abuladze for Dimitri Tskitishvili, Jemal Ananidze for Ana Buchukuri, Ketevan Bakaradze for Beka Liluashvili, Rusudan Tevzadze for Berdia Sichinava, Malkhaz Toria for Teona Akubardia, Shalva Kereselidze for Natia Mezvriashvili, Salome Kobaladze for Levan Gogichaishvili, Giga Parulava for Giorgi Gakharia, Vika Filfani for Zviad Dzidziguri, Giorgi Sharashidze for Roin Khochorashvili, Tamar Khvedeliani for Kakha Kemoklidze, and Sofio Khorguani for Zaza Tavadze.
The mandates of the “Gakharia for Georgia” party deputies were terminated at an extraordinary session on July 2, following the conclusion of the spring session. The mandates of Giorgi Gakharia, Teona Akubardia, Ana Buchukuri, Levan Gogichaishvili, Zaza Tavadze, Beka Liluashvili, Natia Mezvriashvili, Berdia Sichinava, Kakha Kemoklidze, Roin Khochorashvili, Dimitri Tskitishvili, and Zviad Dzidziguri were terminated due to their unexcused absence from sessions.
Additionally, the “Gakharia for Georgia” party will not receive state funding for the next six months. This is due to a provision in the Law on Political Associations of Citizens, which stipulates that a party will not receive state budget funding for the next six months if more than half of its elected parliament members fail to attend more than half of the plenary sessions of the previous session without a valid reason. In such cases, state funding for the party is suspended starting from the first day of the following calendar month.
In total, the mandates of 61 opposition members of the 11th Convocation Parliament have been terminated, as they did not recognize the legitimacy of the 2024 parliamentary election results and renounced their parliamentary seats.
As of today, the 11th Convocation Parliament, which is supposed to consist of 150 members, is represented by 89 deputies.
