Paata Manjgaladze: Khabeishvili said that unfortunately, many in the opposition and among the people don’t believe in change, but Ivanishvili and his regime believed that the people can bring about change, which is why they detained Khabeishvili and Zodelava – they were radiating faith in victory

“Unfortunately, Khabeishvili said that many in the opposition and among the people don’t believe in change, but Ivanishvili and his regime believed that the people can bring about change. That’s why they detained Khabeishvili and Zodelava – they were radiating faith in victory,” said Paata Manjgaladze, leader of “Strategy Aghmashenebeli,” to journalists outside the Tbilisi City Court.
According to him, the judge did not know Levan Khabeishvili personally and evaluated him based on a “portrait.”
“Levan Khabeishvili easily dismantled the accusations leveled against him by Ivanishvili’s regime. He said he’s been talking about this for two months, but the ‘Georgian Dream’ got scared only after the people actually started believing it. Levan said something else very simple: unfortunately, many in the opposition and among the people don’t believe in change, but Ivanishvili and his regime believed that the people can bring about change. This is very important. Initially, ‘Georgian Dream’ tried to ignore him, then they tried to mock Khabeishvili. That didn’t work, and the regime became convinced that the people can bring change. I’ll say it directly: we, the citizens of Georgia, are coming out as defenders of the Constitution. Why? Because the source of power is the people, and the people can establish the government they need. The regime truly believed this, which is why they detained Khabeishvili. That’s why they detained Murtaz Zodelava as well. They were radiating faith in victory. We, too, must believe that the people can bring about change.
It’s unfortunate that this is absurd. The lawyers spoke well. It’s the same judge who issued the detention order. The person evaluated Khabeishvili based on a portrait, didn’t even know him, and apparently, he’s a negative, undesirable person. Apparently, that’s why his detention is necessary. It’s unheard of in nature for someone who has already evaluated and judged Khabeishvili to now deliberate on imposing detention. This is a serious violation. But it doesn’t matter which judge the system appoints; the important thing is that we, Georgians, believe we can bring about change ourselves,” Paata Manjgaladze stated.
