The Bolnisi mayoral candidate of the Lelo-Strong Georgia party announces that he is withdrawing his candidacy in favor of the Georgian Dream candidate, Zamur Chitanava.
Asef Chiragov explains his decision on social media and states that specific people are trying to use his resources and “sincere desire to satisfy their own political interests” as a tool.
“The public, especially the population of Bolnisi, knows very well that the political party Lelo nominated me as a mayoral candidate in Bolnisi. I agreed to this offer only because I really want to use my abilities to take care of my native region.
Unfortunately, I soon became convinced that specific people are trying to use my resources and sincere desire to satisfy their own political interests as a tool. On the other hand, I am convinced that the candidate of the Georgian Dream, Mr. Zamur Chitanava, after his victory will really take care of the development of Bolnisi and the protection of the interests of the population of the municipality.
That is why I am no longer going to divide my votes with Mr. Zamur and have decided to withdraw my candidacy in his favor.
Nowadays, there is definitely no time for squabbles and pointless political confrontations, the most important thing now is to maintain peace and stability, which is the only path to development,” he wrote.
