**Georgia’s EU Integration in Peril, Says Giorgi Vashadze**
In a recent interview with “PalitraNews,” Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the “Strategy Aghmashenebeli” party, expressed his concerns about Georgia’s integration into the European Union. Vashadze was on a visit to Brussels at the time and spoke candidly about the current state of affairs.
According to Vashadze, there was little discussion about local elections during his meetings in Brussels. He stated that everyone understands that these elections cannot serve as a mechanism to resolve the crisis plaguing the country. What is planned for October 4, he emphasized, is not an election in the classical sense. Instead, what Georgia needs are nationwide parliamentary elections, where citizens can decide who they want to lead the country’s development path.
However, Vashadze stressed that these elections must be held in a free and normal environment, without the manipulations that were present during last year’s elections. The local elections currently planned for October 4 are not getting much attention from EU Commission representatives because everyone understands that they will not determine Georgia’s European integration fate.
**EU Commission Working on New Policy**
Vashadze revealed that EU Commission representatives are working to formulate a new policy regarding the reality in Georgia. He emphasized that it is clear to them that the only way to resolve the crisis is to hold new parliamentary elections under normal conditions and rules.
The risks for Georgia, according to Vashadze, are very high. The integration process is currently nonexistent, and he warned that “Georgian Dream” is causing the country to lose its way with the EU. Not only will Georgia fail to become an EU member, but it will also lose what it already has – including the Association Agreement and various evaluation documents.
**A Failing Grade from the EU**
Vashadze pointed out that Georgia is receiving failing grades in every evaluation document and assessment. He emphasized that this is not just a matter of personal opinion, but rather a clear indication of the country’s current state.
