Laliashvili is a well-known figure in Georgian politics. He has held various roles, including serving as ambassador to Kazakhstan and being elected to the Georgian Parliament through the party list of Giorgi Targamadze- Christian Democrats. In 2020, he was appointed director general of pro-government Imedi TV.

**Controversy Surrounding Laliashvili’s Past**

Laliashvili has been involved in some controversy in the past. As a producer, he worked on a film that suggested Russian troops were forced to invade Georgia in response to its military operation during the August 2008 war. The movie was met with public outcry and was eventually removed from Imedi TV’s Facebook page.

**Assuming Duties July 1**

Both Liluashvili and Laliashvili are set to assume their new duties on July 1. This appointment marks a significant change in Georgia’s diplomatic corps, and it will be interesting to see how these two ambassadors navigate the complexities of international relations.
