**Georgian Parliament Passes Foreign Agents Registration Act**
The Georgian Parliament has passed a new law, known as the Foreign Agents Registration Act. This law was proposed by the ruling party, Georgian Dream.
**What Does the Law Say?**
The new law defines what it means to be a “foreign principal’s agent” and to have “foreign influence.” It also explains how to register these agents, how to make public disclosures, and how to monitor them.
**Important Points**
* Anyone who fails to register as a foreign principal’s agent or doesn’t follow the rules can face punishment.
* The law will be enforced by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
* The chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee, Archil Gorduladze, said that Georgia needs laws like this to protect its sovereignty.
**Why Did This Law Get Passed?**
Archil Gorduladze thinks that just like Americans have the right to know who is funding them, Georgians should too. He believes their current laws are not strict enough and don’t cover enough people.
