When municipal elections are held in a country, the arrival of foreign observers is not a common practice – despite this, there are foreign observers in Georgia today, – Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
According to him, these elections are free from any pressure, threats, bribery, etc. Accordingly, this is the only solid basis for an objective assessment.
“These are local self-government elections. When municipal elections are held, it is not a common practice for foreign observers to come to the country. Despite this, there are foreign observers in Georgia today. In total, more than 8,000 observers are observing these elections, of which a large number are foreigners. Of course, everything should have its own meaning, everyone sees the objective reality that the elections are being held in a peaceful environment, these elections are free from any pressure, threats, bribery, etc. This is the overall picture that is clearly visible today and is completely clear. This is the only solid basis for an objective assessment,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
