According to the results of a telephone survey conducted by CRRC-Georgia, if the EU suspends visa-free travel for Georgian citizens, 51% of respondents will hold Georgian Dream and Bidzina Ivanishvili responsible.
According to the same survey, young people aged 18-34 are more likely to hold Georgian Dream/Ivanishvili responsible than older citizens. The survey also notes that residents of the capital are more likely to hold the ruling party responsible than residents of other cities and villages.
Specifically, to the question of who would be primarily responsible if visa-free travel for Georgia is suspended, the responses were distributed as follows:
Georgian Dream/Ivanishvili – 51%;
EU – 13%;
Opposition – 5%;
Russia – 1%;
America – 1%;
“Deep state” – 0%;
NGOs – 0%;
Other – 3%;
Don’t know – 24%;
Refusal to answer – 2%.
In addition, according to CRRC – Georgia, support for membership in the European Union is still high among the Georgian population, as 78% of respondents support EU membership.
According to them, the support rate for Georgia’s membership in the European Union among young people (18-34) is even higher – 86%, while support rates are slightly lower among older age groups, however, the vast majority still support EU membership: 76% in the 35-54 age group, and 71% in the 55+ age group. As noted in the information, there is practically no difference by gender, however, support is higher among the population of the capital than in the regions.
Specifically, to the question of whether you support Georgia’s accession to the European Union, the answers are distributed as follows:
Fully support – 58%;
Support more than do not support – 20%;
Do not support more than support – 6%;
Do not support at all – 7%;
Don’t know – 7%;
Refusal to answer – 2%.
In addition, according to the same study, 78% of respondents believe that the suspension of visa-free travel to the European Union will be harmful to Georgian citizens.
To study the public’s attitudes towards the European Union and visa liberalization, a telephone survey of the Georgian population was conducted by CRRC-Georgia, commissioned by the Civil Society Foundation and with the financial support of the European Union. The survey was conducted on August 8-12, 2025 using the Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) method. A total of 1,333 respondents were surveyed based on a randomly generated selection of phone numbers. The results are representative of the Georgian-speaking adult population of Georgia. The average margin of error of the survey is 1.56%.
