In the Tbilisi City Court, a trial is underway for actor Andro Chichinadze, humorist Onise Tskhadadze, and nine other individuals detained on charges of participating in group violence during protests near the Parliament.
At today’s hearing, the defendants will exercise their right to deliver final statements, after which Judge Nino Galustashvili will retire to deliberate on the verdict.
For reference, during the protests near the Parliament, 11 individuals were detained on charges of participating in group violence.
The detainees – Andro Chichinadze, Onise Tskhadadze, Jano Archaia, Ruslan Sivakov, Luka Jabua, Guram Mirtskhalava, Valeri Tetrashvili, Giorgi Terishvili, Irakli Kerashvili, Revaz Kinadze, and Sergei Kukharchuk – were charged under Part 2 of Article 225 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which pertains to participation in group violence.
This offense carries a penalty of imprisonment ranging from 4 to 6 years.
