Zviad Tsetskhladze Speaks Out Against Charges
Tsetskhladze, a man charged with organizing group violence during a protest, spoke out against the charges in court. He claimed that there was no agreement or organization behind the protest and that it was not premeditated.
The prosecution had argued that it didn’t matter if Tsetskhladze knew the other protesters well, as long as they were working together to achieve a goal. However, Tsetskhladze pointed out that this would mean anyone who attended the 20,000-strong protest could be accused of being part of a violent group.
Tsetskhladze also questioned how it was possible for people to have been organized without knowing each other beforehand. He argued that there must have been some shared intent or goal, which is not the case here.
The prosecution had claimed that barricades were made during the protest, but Tsetskhladze said they were created for defensive purposes and not premeditated.
Tsetskhladze also spoke out against the risk of flight being used as an argument. He pointed out that none of the accused have ever been convicted or fled anywhere.
