**Ukraine’s Military Operation in Russia’s Kursk Oblast May Become Part of Negotiations**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says the operation in Russia’s Kursk Oblast may be a key part of ending the war against Ukraine. He made this statement after meeting with British Foreign Minister David Lammy on February 5.
**Kyiv Wants Strength at Negotiation Table**
Zelensky had previously said that Kyiv would seek an end to the war in 2023. However, he urged international partners to help Ukraine negotiate from a position of strength.
**Talks with Russia Possible**
In a surprising move, Zelensky also said that Ukraine might sit down with Russian President Vladimir Putin to achieve peace. He mentioned that when a diplomatic settlement is reached, the conditions for Ukraine regarding the Kursk direction will be clear.
**Important Targets Hit in Kursk Oblast**
Zelensky noted that Ukrainian forces have been steadily controlling the situation in Kursk Oblast and have hit several important targets using long-range weapons. He said that Russia suffers heavy losses there, keeping around 60,000 Russian military personnel in the area.
