Zelensky and Scholz agreed that Ukraine must be at the table in future peace talks. They also discussed the importance of close coordination between Ukraine and its closest partners.
Following the call, Zelensky announced that their discussion on ending the war was “substantive.” He thanked Scholz for Germany’s support, which has totaled 43.6 billion euros since Russia’s full-scale invasion.

A recent poll found that 91% of Ukrainians surveyed oppose peace negotiations between the US and Russia without Ukraine’s participation. This shows a strong desire among the Ukrainian people for their country to be involved in any peace talks.
