Zaza Tavadze: Regarding Giorgi Gakharia’s statement, we see hysteria – no boycott will end, there will be no recognition or legitimization of the “Dream” regime; As for the investigative commission, its conclusion is a chronicle of treason

“With the conclusion of the investigative commission, ‘Georgian Dream’ has essentially passed judgment on itself. This is a chronicle of betrayal that will be used against them in a free court,” said Zaza Tavadze, one of the leaders of “Gakharia for Georgia,” during an appearance on PalitraNews’ program “Day’s Newsroom,” commenting on the part of the temporary investigative commission’s report concerning the evaluation of decisions made during Giorgi Gakharia’s tenure as Minister of Internal Affairs.
According to Tavadze, after the replacement of “Georgian Dream,” “the actions committed by this regime will be investigated.”
“The so-called Tsulukiani commission has no connection to legitimacy or its essence. It was created from the outset based on violations of the Constitution and current legislation. It had a single purpose: to produce a chronicle of betrayal that the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime is now trying to rewrite history with, as ordered by their main sponsor. As I see it, and as expected, this was done quite poorly and unprofessionally, fortunately for us. By publishing and preparing this conclusion, they have essentially passed judgment on themselves. When this regime is defeated in this country and independent judicial bodies, the prosecutor’s office, and the courts are no longer hijacked by the regime, when our electoral rights and the votes of our fellow citizens are no longer stolen, when a legitimately elected parliament establishes a legitimate investigative commission, it will undoubtedly investigate the actions committed by the regime, including violations of human rights and freedoms. Every member of this commission will have to answer before a real court and, first and foremost, provide testimony before a real commission. This chronicle of betrayal, as ordered by them, will be used against them in a free court. We must not forget that many people were essentially forced to give false testimony when appearing before this commission. They, too, will undoubtedly be held accountable.
Regarding the specific episode of the placement of a checkpoint in Chorchana, during the ‘Georgian Dream’ governance, the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty were protected by the then-Minister of Internal Affairs, of course, in collaboration with various agencies. Any attempt to blame Giorgi Gakharia for this is a futile, feeble, and unprofessional attempt to portray serving the country and protecting its interests as betrayal. The real betrayal is what each member of this regime is committing and what they are forcing various agencies to do by fabricating criminal cases against Giorgi Gakharia.
As for June 20, much has been said and written about it. The most important thing is that the steps taken by Giorgi Gakharia were completely legitimate and within the framework of the law. This was also noted in the Strasbourg decision. When an assault was underway against a state institution, there were isolated violations, for which various individuals were held accountable through both criminal and administrative measures. Giorgi Gakharia himself gave testimony regarding June 20. What surprises me is that both the ‘National Movement’ and ‘Georgian Dream’ present this with the exact same arguments, in the same tone, as if Gakharia committed violations. I believe Giorgi Gakharia has repeatedly stated what actually happened, that he did not issue any orders regarding the so-called bear bullets, and the public, those who perceive reality, understand well what really happened there,” Tavadze stated.
He also noted that “Georgian Dream” perceives Giorgi Gakharia as their main political competitor.
“‘Dream’ intended to maximally hinder Giorgi Gakharia’s political activities and neutralize him from the political scene. If Giorgi Gakharia had stayed in Georgia, this would have been achieved. By all assessments, the ‘Dream’ regime sees Giorgi Gakharia as their main competitor. Accordingly, he is in Germany and, from there, is actively involved in daily political activities with the political council and our party members. ‘Dream’ has failed to realize its intentions to politically neutralize Giorgi Gakharia. I think this is evident. They shouldn’t worry about Giorgi Gakharia; he is managing our political force’s processes very well…
By the way, years ago, Tsulukiani came out and named Chinchaladze-Murusidze as the main obstacle to reforming the judicial system. What happened next? Bidzina Ivanishvili shook hands with Chinchaladze-Murusidze, embraced them, subordinated them, and dismantled the judiciary, forcing Tsulukiani to sing a different tune, despite her earlier fight against Chinchaladze-Murusidze,” Tavadze stated.
Regarding other issues, Zaza Tavadze clarified Giorgi Gakharia’s statement that abandoning parliamentary mandates was a mistake, noting that despite this position, the party’s 12 new members, whose parliamentary mandates were recognized by Parliament yesterday, will not enter the legislative body.
“There’s nothing sensational or new in Giorgi Gakharia’s statement; we only see hysteria from both ‘Dream’ and the ‘National Movement’ in the same tone. Their identical assessments claim that Giorgi Gakharia’s 12 new deputies will enter Parliament… The political boycott we started in its time will not stop. There will be no recognition or legitimization of the ‘Dream’ regime. Giorgi Gakharia said that abandoning the 61 opposition mandates and handing them over to ‘Dream’ was a mistake. When we have over 60 prisoners, when our fellow citizens have been brutally beaten, when human rights and freedoms have been massively violated, when violence was used, it’s possible that abandoning these mandates and allowing the ‘Dream’ regime to seize them was a mistake. They could have been used differently to hinder the regime. No one intends to end the boycott. No one intends to enter Parliament. Neither ‘Dream,’ nor the ‘National Movement,’ nor any external force can force us to take actions that contradict our will and the interests of our country. We are free in our decisions. We will use all legitimate means at our disposal to weaken and defeat the regime. We will not limit ourselves in any way, neither because of the ‘National Movement’ nor ‘Dream’s’ hysteria. We continue our political fight and will see it through to the end,” Tavadze stated.
