**Russia Responds to Serbia’s UN Vote**
The Russian government is expressing surprise and disappointment at Serbia’s recent vote in the United Nations General Assembly. Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke out about the issue.
Zakharova said that ordinary Serbian people were shocked when they voted against Russia on an anti-Russian resolution. She hoped that this was just an accident and not a deliberate decision. Zakharova emphasized that in 2022 and 2023, Serbia had actually voted with Russia on international matters.
The spokesperson for the Russian government noted that even the country’s diplomats had previously shown solidarity with Russia. Zakharova mentioned that Serbian delegates left a meeting at the UN Human Rights Council when Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was speaking via video call.
**Russia’s Position Remains Unchanged**
Zakharova stressed that Russia will not change its position on Kosovo, citing the unchanged status of UN Resolution 1244. This resolution from the late 1990s has played a significant role in international discussions about the region.
