**Ukrainian MP and Entrepreneur Yaroslav Rushchyshyn Dies in Motorcycle Accident**
On July 25, Ukrainian media outlet Tvoye Misto confirmed the passing of Yaroslav Rushchyshyn, a well-known member of parliament, entrepreneur, and cultural figure. The news comes just a day after the 57-year-old was involved in a motorcycle accident near the village of Babukhiv in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
According to local reports, the accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on July 24 when Rushchyshyn lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and collided with a tractor. Unfortunately, he died during hospitalization. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
Rushchyshyn was a respected figure in Ukrainian politics and culture. As a member of parliament, he served in the 9th convocation, representing the Holos (Voice) party. He was also a co-founder of the Dzyga Art Center in Lviv, an artistic association, gallery, theater, and concert facility that has become a hub for creative expression in Ukraine.
A lifelong civic activist, Rushchyshyn held numerous leadership roles throughout his career. He served as a deputy in the Lviv Regional Council from 2006 to 2010, following the Orange Revolution. From 2019 to 2021, he led the Lviv regional branch of the Holos party. His activism began in the late 1980s when he was among the organizers of the 1990 Student Hunger Strike on Kyiv’s Independence Square as part of the Revolution on Granite.
Rushchyshyn’s participation in subsequent Ukrainian revolutions, including the Orange Revolution and EuroMaidan, demonstrates his unwavering commitment to democratic values and social justice. His legacy will be remembered for generations to come, inspiring others to continue his work in politics, culture, education, and grassroots activism.
