**EU and Allies Ready to Toughen Sanctions on Russia**

Speaking at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada, Macron emphasized the need for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine. He stated that the international community is united in its support for the Ukrainian people and will continue to pressure Russia until it accepts a ceasefire.
**Russia’s Attack on Kyiv**
Just hours before the G7 summit began, Russian forces launched one of their worst attacks on Kyiv since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine. The attack killed 16 people and injured at least 134 others. This brutal assault was timed to coincide with the summit, where world leaders were discussing ways to increase pressure on Russia.
**Global Leaders Unite Against Russia**
The G7 summit brought together leaders from Canada, Japan, the UK, and other countries to discuss a range of topics, including Russia’s war against Ukraine. In addition to increasing sanctions, several countries introduced new measures against Russia, including Canada and the UK.
**New Military Aid for Ukraine**
Canada announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $1.5 billion, in addition to its existing sanctions against Russia. This move was welcomed by Macron, who stated that it would bring Russia back to the negotiating table.
**Zelensky Meets with World Leaders**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended the G7 summit and met with various leaders, including Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. However, he left early due to the Russian attack on Kyiv, which he described as “one of the most horrifying attacks on Kyiv.”
**Increased Pressure on Russia**
As global leaders meet to discuss ways to increase pressure on Russia, it’s clear that the international community is united in its condemnation of Moscow’s actions.
