**Trump and Zelensky Clash in Washington**
National Security Advisor Mike Waltz has criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying he is not genuinely seeking an end to the war with Russia.
Waltz made this statement after a tense meeting between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump in Washington on February 28. The meeting ended with the cancellation of a planned US-Ukraine mineral agreement.
**Disagreement Over US Aid**
The two leaders had a heated exchange over US aid to Ukraine, which led to the disagreement. Trump later accused Zelensky of disrespecting the US and said he could come back when ready for peace.
**Zelensky Stands Firm on Peace**
Despite the criticism, Zelensky has taken a firm stance on peace and refused to accept a deal that could give Russia an advantage. He stated in an interview with Fox News that Ukraine is “ready for peace but we need to be in a good position.”
**Deep Divisions Within Trump’s Administration**
The meeting highlighted deep divisions over Ukraine policy within Trump’s administration. US-skeptic Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard echoed Trump’s stance, claiming Zelensky has been pushing the US toward “a nuclear war with Russia/WW3 for years now.” Ukrainian-born Representative Victoria Spartz also condemned Zelensky’s approach, accusing him of prioritizing political theatrics over Ukraine’s real needs.
