**Serbian President Supports Republika Srpska After Leader’s Sentence**
Serbia’s President, Aleksandar Vucic, has spoken out after the leader of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Serb entity, Milorad Dodik, was sentenced by a state court.
Vucic said this is a “difficult day for the Serb people” due to an “unbelievable verdict” in a “very strange trial”. He stated that he had asked Dodik to engage in dialogue and conversation with others in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
**Support from Serbia**
The Serbian President made it clear that Serbia will always help maintain peace, but also stand by Republika Srpska. Vucic said this verdict was not just against Dodik, but against the Serb people as a whole.
He emphasized that he had never wanted to influence decisions in Republika Srpska and came to Banja Luka to offer support to the Serb people there.
**Vucic’s Requests**
The Serbian President made two requests to Dodik. He asked for President Dodik and the leadership of Republika Srpska to invite others to talks, including government representatives and diplomats from around the world.
He also requested unity and solidarity on key issues, saying that Serbia will always stand by Republika Srpska and its people.
**Reactions**
RS President Milorad Dodik thanked Vucic for his support. He said their freedom was at stake and they would take action in response to decades of attempts to weaken the RS.
Vucic’s visit was met with a strong showing of support from several hundred people who gathered outside the Palace of the Republic, chanting his name upon arrival.
