**Serbian President Apologizes for Calling Journalist an Imbecile**
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has apologized to the public and state TV (RTS) for calling a journalist reporting on student protests an imbecile. However, he implied that the journalists at RTS are not objective.
Vucic’s apology came in a letter published on his Instagram profile. He accused the opposition leader Dragan Djilas of openly calling for his death. Vucic also criticized the public broadcaster and its reporters, saying they are “political activists” rather than journalists.
**Protests Across Serbia**
The protests began after 15 people died in a concrete awning collapse at a railway station in November. The protesters demanded accountability and were attended by tens of thousands of people from across Serbia.
In his letter, Vucic accused the protesters and their leaders of being involved in unconstitutional activities and using violence against citizens. He compared the current situation to the aftermath of World War II, when Nazi collaborators were brought to justice.
**Vucic’s Letter**
The President wrote that the protests are a “colored revolution” where a minority harasses and intimidates citizens while hiding behind fabricated demands. He accused the opposition of seizing powers and using fear to control people. Vucic also said that he is waiting for the day when protesters will openly call for his death.
**Apology and Criticism**
Vucic apologized for calling the journalist an imbecile, but criticized the reporter’s professionalism and objectivity. He implied that the RTS journalists are not impartial and are instead “political activists”.
