**Serbian President Criticizes University Employees**
Serbia’s President, Aleksandar Vučić, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the adoption of new laws that give university employees higher salaries. He believes they do not deserve this increase.
Vučić made these comments at an event for women in Serbia called “Women, Strength of Serbia”. He said he agreed to sign the law because other leaders had reached an agreement with university representatives, but he is unhappy about it.
**Disagreement Over Salaries**
Vučić criticized some university leaders who are on strike and demanding higher salaries. He noted that one expert rector, Djokic, has not done his job for months, but is still calling for a general strike.
**New Laws for Higher Education**
The Serbian Assembly recently adopted amendments to the Higher Education Law. These changes increase funding for universities by 20% and give employees a 15.97% pay rise.
**Helping Single Mothers**
Vučić also announced that the state will create a fund to help women who do not receive child support from their partners. This means that single mothers will get regular payments until the father is held accountable in court.
**Students Affected by Blockades**
The President expressed concern about students on budget scholarships who may lose an academic year due to university blockades. He said the state will try to help these students, but it’s not clear if everything will be okay.
**Government Not Intimidated**
Vučić also stated that the government is not afraid of protests and that university leaders are wrong to think otherwise. He believes that teachers, professors, and students who are protesting should have considered how their actions might affect others, including students on budget scholarships.
