EU Not Happy with Georgia’s Election
The European Commission is not pleased with the recent parliamentary elections in Georgia. Vice-President Margaritis Schinas said they do not meet the standards for a country wanting to join the EU.
He claimed that the authorities used their power and resources to influence the outcome of the election. This made it unfair for other parties, including those opposing the current government.
Schinas also accused the ruling party, Georgian Dream, of spreading false information about Georgia’s progress towards joining the EU. He said this was not true and that the country has more work to do before it can join the bloc.
The European Commission will continue to monitor the situation in Georgia.
