**Former Minister of Internal Affairs Reveals Lack of Agreement on Chorchana Checkpoint**

In a recent statement to journalists, former Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri revealed that his service was not informed about the establishment of the Chorchana checkpoint. According to Gomelauri, this lack of communication is unusual and may be connected to an investigation currently underway.

Gomelauri stated that in general, when it comes to setting up checkpoints on the border, there is a process of agreement between all relevant parties, including his service, the head of the security service, and the European Union Monitoring Mission. However, in this case, his service was not informed about the establishment of the Chorchana checkpoint.

“We confirm that there was no agreement, and we learned about the establishment of the Chorchana checkpoint post facto,” Gomelauri said. “Of course, it is our territory, but unfortunately, we are faced with this fact.”

Gomelauri also revealed that when his service found out about the checkpoint, he was obliged to inform the Prime Minister about the matter. According to him, the Prime Minister was not aware of the issue before being informed by Gomelauri.

**Investigation Underway**

The lack of agreement and communication between relevant parties has raised questions about how this situation occurred. Gomelauri acknowledged that an investigation is currently underway to determine what happened and why his service was not informed.

While it’s unclear at this point whether the investigation will shed more light on this issue, one thing is certain: the establishment of the Chorchana checkpoint without prior agreement between relevant parties has sparked concerns about border management and communication between authorities.
