The United National Movement expresses full solidarity and support for all members of non-governmental organizations who have been announced as targets of a new wave of repressions by Ivanishvili’s puppets, according to a statement by the United National Movement. The statement responds to claims by some non-governmental organizations that they received a letter from the Anti-Corruption Bureau accusing them of violating the so-called “Law on the Registration of Foreign Agents” and threatening them with criminal liability.
As stated in the disseminated statement, “Ivanishvili’s regime is deliberately steering us away from the European path.”
“Ivanishvili’s Russian, criminal, and treacherous regime actively continues its fight against democratic, independent non-governmental organizations, whose representatives have today been threatened with criminal prosecution because they refused to comply with the Russian law and register as foreign agents.
Ivanishvili’s regime is deliberately steering us away from the European path and is fighting against all parties, non-governmental organizations, free media, and citizens who do not want a Russian dictatorship established in this country and are actively engaged in the fight against it.
Accordingly, we express full solidarity and support for all members of non-governmental organizations who have been announced as targets of a new wave of repressions by Ivanishvili’s puppets today.
We are confident that soon, with a united, strong, and democratic front, we will celebrate victory over Ivanishvili’s regime!” the statement reads.
For reference, some non-governmental organizations report that on August 11, they received another letter from the Anti-Corruption Bureau accusing them of violating the “Law on the Registration of Foreign Agents” and requesting explanations as to why they have not registered in the “Registry of Foreign Interest Entities.”
According to representatives of the NGOs, they will send legal documentation to the Anti-Corruption Bureau stating that they are not required to register in the respective registry.
