Public Sector Employees Forced to Attend Ruling Party Rally
The union Nezavisnost is unhappy with the way some public sector employees are being treated. They claim that “superiors and party commissars” are forcing these workers to attend a rally of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that there will be an SNS rally on February 15, which is Serbia’s Statehood Day. The rally will take place in the city of Sremska Mitrovica.
The union Nezavisnost says it’s not right for public sector employees to be forced to attend a political party rally. They claim this is an abuse of power and goes against Serbian law and the Constitution. Everyone has the right to join a political party they choose, or not join one at all, says Nezavisnost.
The union is urging its members who face problems in their workplace for refusing to go to the SNS rally to contact them for help. They will provide legal assistance and support as needed.
