**Russian Forces Scale Back Assaults in Kherson Oblast, Regroup for New Attacks**

In a recent update, Ukrainian military officials have reported that Russian forces have temporarily reduced their assault operations in the Kherson Oblast region. This decrease in activity is likely due to a strategic regrouping of Russian troops as they prepare for more intense assaults on islands in the Dnipro River.

According to Serhii Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Defense Army’s Southern Division, the reduction in assaults is not indicative of a major new offensive in Kherson Oblast. “There is currently no reason to talk about the Russians creating a large group capable of conducting a major military operation,” he said.

**Russian Troops Regrouping, Preparing for New Assaults**

The Ukrainian military has observed that Russian forces have been actively probing Ukrainian defenses on the islands in the Dnipro River. Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Armed Forces, noted that Russian troops had carried out operations throughout the island zone just a week ago. This activity is believed to be part of a larger strategy to identify firing positions and study the layout of minefields and engineering barriers.

**Civilian Targets Continue to Be Hit**

Despite the reduction in assaults, both Voloshyn and Bratchuk stressed that Russian troops continue to shell civilian targets in Kherson Oblast intensively. Each day, Ukrainian forces record between 200 and 250 FPV drone strikes on the right bank of the Dnipro River, along with artillery and guided aerial bomb attacks.

**Kherson Oblast: A Region Under Constant Threat**

Kherson Oblast has been a constant target since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Ukrainian forces liberated the right bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast in November 2022. Recent incidents, such as the airstrike that damaged a key bridge on August 2, highlight the ongoing threat to civilians and military personnel in the region.
