The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has responded to a video posted on the “Facebook” page of the “Georgian Dream” party, which uses footage from the Russia-Ukraine war, stating that “such cynical actions express disrespect toward the Ukrainian people and the victims of Russian aggression, and provoke justified outrage in Ukrainian society.”
According to the statement, it is regrettable that the Georgian government is attempting to appease Moscow and disregarding the principles of dignity and independence that have historically characterized the Georgian nation and form an integral part of its identity.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has drawn attention to yet another unfriendly act by the ruling party, ‘Georgian Dream,’ which continues to use videos for its political PR that depict the horrific consequences of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
Such cynical actions express disrespect toward the Ukrainian people and the victims of Russian aggression, provoking justified outrage in Ukrainian society. It is regrettable that the Georgian government is attempting to appease Moscow and disregarding the principles of dignity and independence that have historically characterized the Georgian nation and form an integral part of its identity.
We advise the political strategists of Georgia’s ruling party to be honest with their people and to post a more truthful picture on their pages: on the right, the tricolor flag of Russia, and on the left, the closed doors of the European Union and NATO. This reflects reality, as the current Georgian government has deprived the country not of war, but of a European future. At the same time, Ukraine consistently and unwaveringly supports the friendly Georgian people in their aspirations to build an independent, democratic, and European state,” the statement from Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry reads, as published on the “Facebook” page of the Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia.
