People in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, are not sure if a ceasefire deal will bring peace. The Ukrainian government agreed to a 30-day truce with the US earlier this week.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said he agrees with a ceasefire, but there are “questions” about how it would work. He also set tough conditions for peace.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Putin’s response “manipulative”. He wants more sanctions on Russia.
A full-scale war between Ukraine and Russia started in February 2022. It followed Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.
Many people are still waiting to see if a ceasefire will bring peace.
