**Russia’s Drone Strikes on Kyiv Continue: “They Lie About Everything”, Says Ukraine**
Ukraine has accused Russia of lying about targeting only military objects, after a recent drone attack on the capital city of Kyiv injured two people. The strike hit a private neighborhood in the Dniprovskyi District, causing damage to civilian homes and shops.
The Russian Defense Ministry continues to deny that their drones have caused civilian casualties, despite evidence showing otherwise. This is not the first time Russia has launched drone attacks on Kyiv, with one of the deadliest strikes on July 8, 2024, killing 33 people and wounding 121 others.
**Pattern of Destruction**
The pattern of destruction across cities like Kharkiv and Kherson shows that civilians are often the primary targets. Moscow’s denial of civilian casualties has been dismissed as “absolutely untrue” by Ukrainian officials.
Ukraine’s military intelligence reported that Russia launched 138 drones overnight, including Iranian-designed Shahed-type drones. Air defenses intercepted 125 of them, while another 41 went off radars – likely used as decoys to overwhelm air defense systems.
**International Community Speaks Out**
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called for more pressure on Russia to secure a real ceasefire and bring Russia to the negotiating table. The international community is also calling for an end to this war, with sanctions being critical to that end.
“This is Russia’s spit in the face of everything the international community is trying to do to stop this war… At the same time as Putin tries to portray himself as a mediator for the Middle East,” said a Ukrainian official.
**Russia’s Advances and Casualties**
North Korea has lost over 6,000 troops in Russia’s Kursk Oblast – more than half of its deployed force. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry reported that five Ukrainian citizens, including three children, came under fire in an attack on a residential building in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv.
Ukraine’s military intelligence also reported that Russian forces suffered 1,200 casualties just over the past day. The number includes 1,170 casualties that Russian forces suffered just over the past day.
**Impact on Global Economy**
The global economy is also feeling the impact of Russia’s war on Ukraine. Iran has partially suspended production at the South Pars gas field – the world’s largest – after an Israeli airstrike triggered a fire at the site.
Germany aims to increase domestic military spending in response to Russia’s ongoing threat, amid calls by U.S. President Donald Trump for Europe to shoulder more of its own defense.
