**Russian Artillery Attack on Nikopol Leaves 2 Dead, 5 Injured**
A devastating Russian artillery attack on the city of Nikopol in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has resulted in the deaths of two men and the injury of five others. According to Governor Serhii Lysak, the attack occurred on April 17 and caused significant damage to buildings, including a shop, cafe, houses, outbuildings, cars, and a bus stop.
The governor reported that four of the injured victims have been hospitalized and are in serious condition. The attack also sparked a fire in the city, with footage showing the aftermath of the strike. Nikopol is a regular target of Russian artillery and drone strikes, given its proximity to the destroyed Kakhovka Reservoir and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
**Widespread Attacks on Ukraine**
This latest attack comes as part of a wider pattern of Russian aggression against Ukraine. Over the past day, regional authorities reported that at least five people were killed and almost 70 injured in Russian attacks across the country. In Dnipro, the regional center of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, three people were killed, including a child, and 30 injured in an attack on April 16.
The continued rejection by Russia of a full ceasefire agreement has led to increased violence against civilian areas across Ukraine. This escalation is a concerning trend that highlights the need for international pressure to bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
