**US Makes Progress in Ukraine and Russia Talks**
U.S. President Donald Trump says that the country has made progress in talks with both Ukraine and Russia. This comes after a recent disagreement between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump met with reporters at the White House on March 6 and said, “I will say that we’ve made a lot of progress with Ukraine and a lot of progress with Russia over the last couple of days.” He added that it would be great to bring an end to the war between the two countries.
**Ukraine and US to Meet for Talks**
Next week, Ukrainian officials will meet with U.S. representatives to discuss a framework for a potential peace agreement in Saudi Arabia. This meeting was announced by Zelensky on March 6 at the Special European Council.
Zelensky said that Ukraine is willing to take steps towards peace and has proposed what those steps are. He also expressed his willingness to work with Trump’s “strong leadership”.
**EU Support for Ukraine**
The European Union has reaffirmed its support for Ukraine, calling it a key partner in the region. EU leaders discussed further assistance for Ukraine at an emergency summit on March 6.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the plan to protect Ukrainian nuclear power plants and cities is “very promising”. He urged everyone to take this proposal seriously.
**US Imposes Sanctions**
Despite progress in talks, the U.S. has kept enhanced sanctions against Russia in place. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the administration will not hesitate to impose more sanctions if it helps with peace negotiations.
