US President Donald Trump says Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to talk peace.

Trump told Congress that he had received a letter from Zelensky agreeing to “come to the negotiating table”. This came after Zelensky said on social media that he was willing to work with Trump to achieve lasting peace.

The two leaders had a meeting in the Oval Office last week, but it ended with no agreement. Trump accused Zelensky of not being ready for peace. Now, Trump says they are both ready to talk and end the war in Ukraine.

Trump read from Zelensky’s letter in Congress. It said that Ukraine is willing to negotiate a lasting peace and that nobody wants peace more than the Ukrainians. The letter also mentioned a deal on rare earth minerals between the US and Ukraine, which Trump said was a key part of the agreement.

The US president also talked about his discussions with Russia. He said they have “strong signals” that they are ready for peace, but he did not give any more details.

Zelensky’s office has not commented on Trump’s letter yet.
