**Ukraine’s Logistics Strategy: Blowing Up Bridges to Defeat Russia**
The Ukrainian military has been learning the hard way that logistics are key to victory. In an effort to cut off Russian supply lines, they have been targeting bridges in western Russia. One group of Russian soldiers recently captured their own apparent demise on video as a Ukrainian bombardment destroyed a bridge near the border village of Tetkino.
**A Risky but Crucial Mission**
Ukrainian troops are probing Russian positions around Tetkino, a border village in Kursk Oblast. This is a high-risk mission, but they have help from artillery and bombs that are hitting bridges leading to the village. By destroying these bridges, Ukrainian forces can potentially strangle Russian supply lines and give their infantry a fighting chance.
**A Dramatic Video**
A video that circulated online on Tuesday appears to show the moment when some unlucky Russian soldiers were caught in a precise Ukrainian bombardment. The soldiers seem to be recovering equipment from immobilized vehicles stranded on a badly damaged bridge near Zvannoe, 24 km from Tetkino. As they realized they were in extreme danger, one of them shouted “Let’s take it and get the fuck out of here!” Moments later, the bridge exploded, and the camera fell to the ground.
**Targeting the Bridge, Not the Soldiers**
The Ukrainian Center for Defense Strategies explained that the target was not the soldiers but the bridge over the Seym River. By destroying this bridge, Ukrainian forces aim to isolate enemy units near Tetkino and throughout the Glushkovo district of Kursk Oblast.
**Not the First Attack**
This is not the first attack targeting the Seym River bridge near Zvannoe. Ukrainian munitions had already badly damaged the bridge before May 6th. However, the span could still support Russian soldiers moving on foot. Ukrainian planners were clearly unhappy with this and organized a follow-up attack.
**The Aim: Squeezing Russian Supply Lines**
The aim is clear: to cut off the flow of supplies to Russian troops defending Tyotkino from Ukrainian incursions. This is an effort to seize momentum along the border, two months after retreating from a 650-square-km salient they’d carved out of Kursk.
**A Lesson Learned**
It seems that Ukrainian forces have learned a hard lesson from their previous incursion into Kursk. They are now using a more effective strategy to defeat Russia by targeting logistics and supply lines.
