**British Military Deploys “IKEA-Style” Decoy Weapons to Ukraine**
In a clever tactic to deceive Russian forces, the UK is sending flat-packed decoy weapons to Ukraine. These lifelike cut-outs aim to draw Russian fire away from real equipment near front-line zones.
The British military has been working with private industry experts to develop decoys that are visually identical to real UK-produced gear. The goal is to make Russia waste expensive weaponry on targets that appear real but are actually just dummy versions. With improved surveillance capabilities, including drones and satellite imagery, the Russian military can now distinguish between traditional inflatable decoys and actual equipment.
**UK Responds with Advanced Decoys**
In response to Russia’s advanced surveillance capabilities, the UK Ministry of Defense’s Taskforce Kindred developed decoys that are near-identical to real weapons from a short distance. RAF Squadron Leader Lowri Simner explained that these decoys can be quickly assembled and deployed on the battlefield.
Digital images of actual UK-supplied gear are printed on materials, shipped to Kyiv, and assembled within hours. These decoys are then deployed on the battlefield. For each actual vehicle sent to Ukraine, as many as 30 decoys accompany it, appearing realistic from as close as 25 meters.
**Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Confirms Russian Decoy Use**
Ukraine’s deputy defense minister, Kateryna Chernohorenko, confirmed that Russia is also using decoys, including drones in its daily air attacks. These drones contain minimal explosives and are still shot down by Ukrainian forces, expending resources.

US Army General James Rainey warned during a speech at the Royal United Services Institute that future wars will involve “constant observation.” This highlights how advanced surveillance has challenged traditional battlefield concealment.
