Georgia Makes Changes to Equality Laws
The government in Georgia is making some changes to the country’s laws about equality. The new rules will remove words like “gender” and “gender identity” from all laws.
Instead of using these words, laws will now talk about equality between women and men. For example, “gender issues” will become “issues of equality between women and men.” This change will also affect how people who are unfairly treated because of their sex are referred to in the law.
The changes were proposed by two groups of lawmakers: Georgian Dream and People’s Power. These changes have now been sent to committees that review laws for consideration.
These changes aim to make the laws clearer about equality between women and men. The goal is to promote fairness and equal treatment for all people in Georgia.
