The Parliament will hold two plenary sessions this week, on September 2 and 3, and will then take a one-month pause from plenary sessions until the local self-government elections.
In accordance with legislation, plenary sessions are generally not held in the month leading up to elections. However, as stated by the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, during the Bureau meeting, committee sessions may be held to address ongoing issues.
“If a plenary session is necessary, it can be held at any moment. However, to allow colleagues to participate in the pre-election campaign, plenary sessions will not be held in September,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
On September 2, the Parliament will open its spring session.
The schedule for this week’s two-day work is as follows: The Parliament will review the conclusion of the temporary investigative commission, elect the head of the State Security Service, make a decision on recognizing the parliamentary mandates of members of the “Gakharia for Georgia” party, and discuss several ongoing draft laws.
