 The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched criminal prosecution against Irakli Shaishmelashvili, the former head of the Operational Planning Division of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry, in connection with the events of October 4.
The statement was made by Minister of Internal Affairs Gela Geladze during a briefing held at the Ministry.
According to the Minister, Shaishmelashvili is charged with calling for the violent overthrow or change of Georgia’s constitutional order and the overthrow of state authority.
“As for the two individuals abroad who are being prosecuted, one of them is Irakli Shaishmelashvili. He is charged with calling for the violent overthrow of Georgia’s constitutional order and the overthrow of state authority,” said the Minister.
