The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirms the release of the minor who was detained on September 15 for demonstrating a weapon to rally participants.
As stated to “InterpressNews” by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the expertise conclusion established that the seized item was not a firearm.
For reference, on September 15, the Ministry of Internal Affairs released information that a person born in 2009 was detained on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of a firearm and combat materials, who was demonstrating a weapon to rally participants.
“Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Patrol Police Department detained D.G., born in 2009, on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of a firearm and combat materials.
The investigation establishes that on September 15, 2025, about 20 activists who had left the Public Broadcaster building confronted several citizens verbally at the intersection of Rustaveli and Besiki streets, during which one of them demonstrated a pistol, causing two rally participants to grab him. The mentioned individual entered a café near Besiki Street, where the activists cornered him and seized the weapon, which, upon initial inspection, is presumably a pneumatic pistol.
The mentioned individual and the seized weapon were handed over to Patrol Police employees by the activists.
If confirmed, the crime carries a penalty of up to 7 years of imprisonment,” stated the information released on September 15.
