Ukrainian troops are holding their ground at the Kurakhove thermal power plant despite fierce fighting in the area. Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia group of forces, said on national television that Russian forces are trying to attack the Ukrainian positions in the Dachne area and drive them out of Kurakhove.
The Kurakhove sector has become a key point of focus for the Russian offensive in Donetsk Oblast over the past few months. The town has turned into one of the hottest sectors of the front, with Ukrainian forces continuing to hold their ground despite heavy fighting.
**Ukrainian Forces Repel 29 Russian Attacks**
Ukrainian troops have successfully repelled 29 Russian attacks in the Kurakhove sector near Sribne, Andriivka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne over the past day. The General Staff reported earlier that Ukrainian forces are destroying large amounts of Russian military equipment in the area.
**Kurakhove Thermal Power Plant Becomes Fortification**
The thermal power plant in Kurakhove has become a fortification for Ukrainian troops, with street fighting currently taking place in the town. If taken by Russian forces, Kurakhove would be the first significant town to fall into their hands this year after Russia took Avdiivka and Vuhledar last year.
**Moscow’s Troops Focus on Pokrovsk and Entire Donetsk Oblast**
Moscow’s troops are also focusing their efforts on taking control of the entire Donetsk Oblast, including the important logistics hub of Pokrovsk. Ukrainian drones have reportedly “overloaded” Russian air defenses, with a Neptune missile hitting the site shortly after.
