**Kyiv Independent Launches “How to Help Ukraine” Newsletter**
The Kyiv Independent has taken a significant step to engage its community and provide them with more ways to support Ukraine. In response to the most frequently asked question from its members – “What more can I do to help Ukraine?” – the organization has launched a new membership benefit: the “How to help Ukraine” newsletter.
**Empowering Members**
The newsletter is designed to empower Kyiv Independent members to get more involved in efforts to support Ukraine. It will feature donation suggestions, volunteering opportunities, and raise awareness of Ukrainian civil society. The initiative is a direct response to the community’s desire to do more than just donate to the Kyiv Independent.
**A Sincere Desire to Help**
Daryna Shevchenko, CEO of the Kyiv Independent, stated that the community’s passion for supporting Ukraine was not just about donating money. “Many of our members have repeatedly expressed a sincere desire to help Ukraine in ways that go beyond donating to the Kyiv Independent,” she said.
**The First Edition: A Resounding Success**
The first edition of the newsletter, sent on June 12, raised an impressive $16,500 for the Leleka Foundation, a U.S.-Ukrainian charity that procures medical supplies for those on the front lines. This money helped purchase medical backpacks containing equipment to save up to 10 lives.
**Ongoing Support is Vital**
The ongoing support for organizations like Leleka Foundation is vital for Ukraine. Founded in December 2014, Leleka has a team of 20 staff members and volunteers across two continents, working tirelessly to procure and supply medical and first-aid equipment. Donations like those raised from the newsletter will allow them to continue their work during uncertain times.
**A Monthly Spotlight**
The “How to help Ukraine” newsletter will highlight one such organization each month, giving members the opportunity to donate money, time, or support to a group that shares the same values and mission as the Kyiv Independent. This initiative demonstrates the organization’s commitment to empowering its community and providing them with more ways to make a positive impact.
