**Pedestrian Fines in Georgia Get a Boost**
Starting now, pedestrians who ignore traffic rules will face higher fines. The new rules aim to make the roads safer by punishing those who don’t follow traffic signals or signs.
**Increased Penalties for Pedestrians**
According to recent changes in the Code of Administrative Offenses, pedestrians who break the Law on Road Traffic will have to pay more money as a fine. If you’re walking and ignore a red light or disobey a sign, the fine used to be 10 GEL (around $3). But now, it’s going up to 50 GEL ($15) for the first offense. If you do it again within the same year, the fine will be even higher – 100 GEL ($30).
**Motorways and Highways Mean Higher Fines**
If you commit one of these offenses on a busy motorway or a road that’s important for national or international traffic, the fine will jump to 100 GEL ($30) right away. And if you’re unlucky enough to make the same mistake again within a year, you’ll have to pay 200 GEL ($60).
**Why These Changes?**
The authorities are trying to improve road safety by making sure everyone follows the rules. By increasing fines for pedestrians who disobey traffic signals or signs, they hope to encourage people to be more careful and considerate of others on the roads.
