**Georgia’s Intelligence Service to Be Rebranded and Integrated into State Security**

In a significant development, Georgia’s intelligence service is set to undergo major changes. Currently operating as a special government body under the prime minister, it will soon become part of the State Security Service (SSSG) and be renamed the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). This move comes after a legislative package was submitted to the Georgian Dream party’s parliament, which aims to pass the necessary amendments by July 1.

**Changes in Defense Code**

The proposed changes also include amendments to the Defense Code, which would see the National Agency for Military Conscription and Recruitment integrated into the Defense Forces during wartime. This change has been implemented since 2024, with the agency taking over from municipalities the management of citizen registration for military service and the issuance of summonses.

**Russian Occupation and Detention of Georgian Citizens**

In a separate incident, Russian occupation forces have illegally detained three Georgian citizens near the occupation line in the Gori Municipality. According to the SSSG, one of the detainees has already been released and returned to Georgian-controlled territory, while the other two remain in unlawful detention.

**Extradition of Suspects Wanted in France**

Georgian authorities announced on May 20 that they have extradited several individuals wanted in France for trafficking-related crimes committed by a transnational criminal group. The suspects were arrested on Georgian territory by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a result of joint efforts between Georgian and French law enforcement.
