**Turkish Citizen Ends Hunger Strike After 48 Days**
Temur Katamadze, a Turkish citizen of Georgian origin, ended his hunger strike on March 5 after 48 days. He was transferred to a medical facility from a detention center earlier that day due to serious health concerns.
Katamadze had been known for leading protests in Batumi until his arrest in mid-January. His decision to end the hunger strike does not mean his struggle is over.
**11 People Kept in Pretrial Detention**
A Tbilisi City Court judge ruled to keep 11 individuals in pretrial detention on charges of participating in group violence during pro-EU protests near Parliament. The case involves actor Andro Chichinadze, comedian Onise Tskhadadze, and nine others.
**EU to Impose Sanctions if Necessary**
The EU press office said they are taking into account the Baltic states’ decision regarding sanctions on individuals involved in repressive measures in Georgia. The EU reaffirmed its commitment to upholding democratic values and human rights and is ready to impose further action if necessary.
**Russian President Meets with Abkhazia Leader**
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the “newly elected president” of occupied Abkhazia, Badra Gunba, upon his visit to Moscow. Putin congratulated Gunba on his election victory, which Georgia and most of the international community do not recognize.
**17 Georgians Deported from Poland**
A Polish newspaper reported that 17 Georgians were deported from Poland due to a criminal past or lack of legal residence permits. The individuals were all men between the ages of 24 and 58 who had been living in guarded centers for foreigners.
