**Government Gets Power to Give Money to NGOs**
The Georgian Parliament has quickly passed a law that allows the government’s public organization to give money to non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The vote was 80 in favor.
Under this new law, a State Grant Management Agency will be created. This agency will distribute grants to civil society organizations. This means they will get money from the government.
The government has already set aside 20 million GEL for next year’s budget to support these initiatives. This money will be used to create and run the agency, as well as give out the grants.
The new agency is expected to have around ten employees.
