**Georgian Dream’s Election Strategy Exposed: Tengo Tevzadze Speaks Out**
The upcoming local self-government elections in Georgia have become a battleground, with various parties vying for control. According to Tengiz (Tengo) Tevzadze, a member of the Coalition for Change, Georgian Dream is using every trick in the book to win these elections.
Speaking on Palitra News’ program Day Newsroom, Tevzadze stated that Georgian Dream’s main goal is to lure opposition parties into the fray. “They are trying to bait someone – some with kind words, some with threats, and others with different treatment,” he said. By doing so, they hope to gain an advantage over their opponents.
Tevzadze pointed out that without opposition support, it would be impossible for Georgian Dream to win Tbilisi, especially given the coalition’s strong showing in previous elections. The Coalition for Change and United National Movement have both gained significant support in various regions, making them key players in the local elections.
Regarding Gakharia For Georgia’s participation in these elections, Tevzadze was scathing. “If they want to be in the opposition, they must mentally leave Georgian Dream,” he said. This party has been accused of being pro-Russian and authoritarian, which makes it impossible for them to genuinely oppose Georgian Dream.
Tevzadze also responded to Mamuka Khazaradze’s statement that he doesn’t want to hand over Tbilisi to Kakha Kaladze without a fight. He pointed out that Nika Melia, the chairman of the Coalition for Change, had actually fought against Kaladze in the 2014 mayoral race and bled Georgian Dream dry.
**The Real Motive Behind the Local Elections**
Tevzadze emphasized that his party is ready to engage in a constructive dialogue with their opponents. However, they demand an explanation for why this debate was initially dismissed as a planted topic by the State Security Service.
Furthermore, he highlighted the case of Nika Gvaramia, who faces court hearings on June 13. Tevzadze stressed that no one is afraid of being arrested or imprisoned, citing the example of Nika Melia’s unlawful abduction before his hearing. “Eventually, they will find themselves being interrogated by a real investigative commission in a legitimate parliament,” he said.
**The Price of Manipulation**
Tevzadze concluded by stating that Georgian Dream’s actions would ultimately backfire. “They will pay the price – politically and criminally,” he warned. The arrest of four opposition leaders is too many for them, and it’s only a matter of time before they face the consequences.
As the local self-government elections draw near, Georgians are left to wonder what kind of future their country will have under Georgian Dream’s leadership.
