“Of course, I welcome it if the OSCE Chairperson comes to Georgia. The elections are over, the revolution didn’t succeed, and now a second coming has begun?! It hasn’t started; life goes on, and let her come,” said Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a deputy from the Georgian Dream party, regarding the visit of the OSCE Acting Chairperson, Elina Valtonen, to Georgia.
According to him, the Georgian authorities also welcome any European country’s leader who comes to discuss facts rather than perceptions.
“I welcome it, of course, if she comes to Georgia, and we welcome any Euro-bureaucrat, any leader of a European country, who comes here to talk about facts and not perceptions. We have long been ready to discuss facts and have never shied away from it. The elections are over, the revolution didn’t succeed, and now a second coming has begun?! Of course, it hasn’t. Life goes on, and let her come. She will come in the future, and representatives of other countries will come too,” Sharmanashvili stated.
Additionally, he noted that he fully agrees with the statement by Georgia’s Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, that “until Brussels condemns and distances itself from the violent storming of the President’s Palace by groups it supported, it will remain a supporter of extremism.”
“I wouldn’t change a single word; I would sign that statement as it is. I agree 100% because it’s truly the case. Until European country leaders distance themselves, they are indirectly and directly complicit in attempts to overthrow the state,” Sharmanashvili noted.
For reference, according to the statement from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the OSCE Acting Chairperson, Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, will visit Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia from October 13-15. According to the disseminated information, during the visit, the OSCE Acting Chairperson will hold meetings with high-level government representatives.
