The parliamentary majority and the Georgian Dream have decided to use the conclusion of the investigative commission as the basis for initiating appropriate legal procedures in the Constitutional Court, the goal of which will be to ban the political activities of the National Movement and its members, – said the Vice Speaker of the Parliament, the Chairperson of the Temporary Investigative Commission, Tea Tsulukiani.
According to her, without this, the country has no prospects for development.
“We worked very intensively. You know that the commission needed and with the consent of the parliament, we used the maximum period of six months that the law provides for. We did not have more time to work, because the law does not recognize the possibility of such an extension. Many people have seen the document, most of them from afar, because now it is being proofread and will be printed in the form of a book by the end of October. You have all seen this document, because it is available electronically. It is about 500 pages and several thousand pages of annexes. I will not list the volumes, which are audio and video materials in the form of annexes to the conclusion, which may disappear after years. Therefore, as a result of extensive and active cooperation with your channel, we will create a documentary audio and video archive corresponding to this conclusion,” Tsulukiani noted.
According to him, the commission’s conclusion is not just a text that recounts various tragedies, but rather a document supported by facts and evidence.
“This is not just a text that tells various stories and tragedies that the Saakashvili regime has brought upon our citizens and the country. There are the evidence and facts. In particular, this conclusion confirms that the power that ruled our country for 9 years and is now in opposition does not have the resources to change. It has neither the will nor the ability to do so. Accordingly, this is the same power that, if it returns to power, promises us at least the same thing that it has done for 9 years, probably even worse.
That is why the parliamentary majority and the Georgian Dream, as a party, have decided to use this conclusion as the basis for initiating appropriate legal procedures in the Constitutional Court, the goal of which will be to ban the political activities of the National Movement and its members. This is the goal, because we believe that without this, the country has no prospects for development. Georgian Dream cannot be in power forever, and our duty, our job and mission is to leave power when we have to, not on October 5 and through overthrow, but through elections. The time will come someday, during the next elections, to exclude the chance and risk that the perpetrators of the facts described in the conclusion will return to power,” Tsulukiani said on the air of Georgia’s First Channel.
