Serbian Students on Long Journey to Nis
Students from all over Serbia are traveling by bike and on foot to the city of Nis. They will hold a protest rally there on March 1.
Some students traveled long distances, like those who biked from Novi Sad and Belgrade. They arrived in the town of Krusevac on Thursday. Other groups came from the south and were welcomed warmly by locals in Leskovac. A group walking from Bor made their way to Svrljig.
About 300 students started their journey together, but split up along the way. One group spent the night in Aleksinac. Another group will stay in a village near Crvena Reka tonight and continue on Friday morning. More students will join them then.
A smaller group of about 60 students walked from Blace and arrived in Prokuplje. They will also spend the night there.
The protest rally, called “Student Edict,” will last for 18 hours. It starts at 9 am on March 1 and ends at 3 am on March 2. The University of Nis is organizing it.
