**Tensions Rise in Kharkiv Direction as Russians Push for Advantages**
The situation on the ground in the Kharkiv region remains precarious, with the enemy making attempts to gain a foothold in key areas. According to Pavlo Shamshin, spokesman for the Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group (OTU), the Vovchansk area is one of the main targets for Russian forces.
**Motorcycle Assaults and Bridgehead Efforts**
The Russians are using motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles to move quickly between positions, trying to avoid encounters with Ukrainian drones. However, not all their attempts have been successful, as Shamshin noted that not all motorcycle assault troops have managed to evade detection. In the Dvorichna settlement area, the Russians are making a concerted effort to establish a bridgehead on the western bank of the Oskil River, which would allow them to threaten the city of Kupyansk.
**Bridgehead Efforts Foiled**
Despite their best efforts, however, the Russians have been unable to establish stable crossings over the Oskil River. This is largely due to the fact that special equipment used for this purpose is often destroyed by Ukrainian forces before it can be deployed. Shamshin noted that there have been many such attempts by the Russians.
**Drones Dominate the Skies**
One of the key aspects of Russian strategy in the Kharkiv region has been the use of drones. According to Shamshin, reconnaissance and strike drones are being used daily and in large numbers, particularly in the Volchansky direction where the skies are “timbered with drones”. Fiber-optic drones are also being actively employed by the enemy.
**Ukrainian Drone Efforts**
In response to Russian drone activity, Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance units have been developing their capabilities. Shamshin emphasized that Ukrainian drone pilots are becoming more effective, with some crews achieving a success rate of 5-7 targeted attacks out of ten. This suggests that the Ukrainians are adapting well to the challenge posed by Russian drones and are able to effectively counter enemy activity.
