**Opposition MPs Removed from Supreme Council of Adjara**
On February 14, the Supreme Council of Adjara removed six opposition deputies from its membership. These MPs came from three different groups: the Coalition for Change, the United National Movement (UNM)-Unity, and Strong Georgia.
The deputies had asked to be removed because they don’t think their seats were won fairly in the October elections. The UNM-Unity group was supposed to have four seats, while the other two groups each got one seat. But now only the ruling Georgian Dream party’s 13 members are left in the Supreme Council of Adjara.
This is similar to what happened last week when the Georgian Dream MPs removed 49 opposition deputies from the national legislature. The opposition group For Georgia has two seats and is boycotting council meetings, just like they’re doing in the national parliament.
